Although we spend our days trying to find ways to eat better and get more exercise the one thing that may not be as obvious is that our body has brain fitness needs as well. Keeping the brain sharp requires using it and actively pushing it to be better.
The brain is a use it or lose it organ. That means that if you are not giving your brain the proper stimulation over time it will deteriorate. Once the brain activity starts to deteriorate you will start to see cognitive memory loss, loss of focus and in some cases Dementia or Alzheimer's.
There are many things you can work into your routine to improve your brain fitness. Even a few minutes a day spent doing brain activities can make a huge difference in your overall brain fitness. Here are a few ways you can accomplish that.
Eat brain food. Just like with every other part of the body, brain training is very much affected by nutrition. The best brain foods you can eat include fish, blueberries, avocados, pumpkin seeds and spinach. There are many other foods as well that are beneficial to the brain to incorporate at least one or two a day of these into your diet.
